Wood & Surface

Each piece is unique

The wood is individually selected and combined for each piece of furniture, each piece is unique in colour and grain.
ZEITRAUM exclusively works with hardwood sourced from sustainable forestry and refrains from the use of any chemically treated wood. ZEITRAUM furniture’s wood surfaces are protected with a coat of purely natural oil. These types of oil are applied to smoothly sanded surfaces, producing a silken, durable surface. The applied oil penetrates the wood to a minimum depth of 2 mm, preserving the surface naturally and free of harmful substances. This application allows the wood to breathe, absorb and release humidity which polished and sealed surfaces cannot do. As an alternative, optically equivalent matt lacquered surfaces are possible for the strong use of contract.

We are offering most of our collection in selected colours – without hiding what we stand for: solid wood. Although in colour, its natural texture and depth remain visible thanks to a sophisticated staining technique.
The colour palette expands our collection to include a wide range of possibilities. The palette consists of thirteen different stains on the basis of oak – five nuances of grey, chalk white and smoke blue as well as six spot colours. The staining technique with its semi-transparent appearance ensures that the natural texture of the wood surface remains visible, although it is stained. We developed the colour pallet together with our long-standing partner, Formstelle, the Munch-based design agency.
