Aluminium

After oxygen and silicon, aluminium is the third most abundant element in the earth’s crust and the most abundant metal with a proportion of 8 %. It can be recognized by its silvery white surface and its low weight. A thin oxide layer protects this metal from corrosion. It can be fully recycled without losing its original properties. The processing of aluminium scrap requires only about 10 % of the manufacturing energy compared to first production. In most industrial nations, one third of aluminium is produced from secondary raw materials (cf. PETERS, 2015). In addition to solid wood trays, ZEITRAUM also offers a variant with an aluminium tray for the tray of the PLAISIR occasional furniture.
