A sustainable product should be
assessed in all its life stages

Future-oriented
sustainability assessment

In order to create absolute transparency for our products, we have developed a forward-looking sustainability rating, the FURNITURE FOOTPRINT for our furniture. The Furniture Footprint bridges the gap between subjective design perceptions and recognised sustainability-relevant criteria, thus forming an interface between aesthetics and considered consumption. Quickly, fairly and at eye level, we share our knowledge and disclose information about our products to promote thoughtful consumption.

The product evaluation is based on the following criteria:
The three pillars of sustainability and independent LCA data
the Eco-Baudat of the Federal Government of Germany

Economic

Regionalism – The origin of resources, prudent business management, ecological economic structures, ability for repair, timeless design

Ecological

Recycling management – Responsible and environmentally-friendly use of natural resources, create something „permanent“ – longevity

Social

Independence – Work environments that are fair and observe occupational health standards, equality, respect for human rights, personal customer and supplier relations, comprehensive transparency

Life cycle assessment
(LCA) Data of Ökobaudat

The Ökobaudat is an information portal for sustainable construction issued by the Federal Ministry for the Interior, Building and Community (BMI) and provides a unified database for ecological balancing according to DIN 15804.
Data are subject to stringent quality criteria and set the independent benchmarks of our assessment system. The Life cycle assessment Data provide precise information about the sourcing of raw materials, the environmental impact of the material, transport routes, and processes at each stage of the product lifecycle all the way to its disposal.

The Furniture Footprint has
won the German Sustainability
Award Design 2021 in the
category Pioneer.

Evaluation system and methodology

We calculate the outcome of any specific product rating using the weight (in percent) of the individual components in a piece of furniture as well as independent life cycle assessment data and existing certifications.

Fairness

The Furniture Footprint is a way to share knowledge and disclose information about our products quickly, fairly and at eye level to promote thoughtful consumption.

Climate

The combination of internal reflection and transparency makes it possible to increase general awareness. Together with our customers, we are taking the path to even more climate-friendly products.

Resources

By evaluating the parameters, we can quickly and efficiently see how many resources are being consumed, so that we can then optimise processes if necessary.
