A historic estate between wine culture and contemporary architecture

At the edge of the village of Westhofen, surrounded by vineyards, stands the historic Gutshof Valentin – part of the world of Weingut Wittmann. Following extensive restoration of the estate, built in 1837, the property now brings together the raw authenticity of its old masonry with clear, contemporary additions, becoming a characterful setting for wine tastings and celebrations.

Inside, exposed timber beams and solid natural stone walls continue to define the character of the rooms. New insertions of glass and steel are deliberately restrained, allowing the historic fabric to take precedence. This subtle dialogue between old and new creates a bright, calm atmosphere: daylight flows generously through the spaces, gliding across the aged stonework and lending the rooms a sense of timeless lightness.

The furnishings naturally follow this approach: OKITO PLY DINING chairs in light oak lend the historic vaulted space a quiet, understated elegance that allows the room to breathe. Complementing them, slender VERMU HIGH standing tables are placed discreetly along the walls – flexibly usable without disturbing the architectural calm.

Outdoors, the interplay between history and the present continues. The expansive courtyard with its preserved cobblestone paving invites receptions under open skies and opens the building ensemble to the surrounding landscape. The result is a harmonious whole: Gutshof Valentin brings together tradition and contemporary design in a straightforward, unassuming manner – a place where historical patina is allowed to endure while new possibilities find their space.
