Rotation meets rotation

The most striking feature of the chair PELLE is its freely suspended seat. For designer duo Lorenz*Kaz, it was the inspiration behind the concept of their installation for the FEATURED EDITION which was curated by STYLEPARK for imm Cologne 2014.

“Hence, the basic theme was found, “swinging seating” and an allusion to the ultimate representative of this concept: the swing carousel”. When we were thinking about the design of the carousel, we considered how to incorporate a representation of the production process of PELLE. Both the initial development phase and eventual method of production of PELLE greatly involve the use of a five-axis milling machine. Hence, poetry meets technology, swing carousel meets milling machine, rotation meets rotation.”

PELLE looks elegant and spacious, its semi-circular back and arm rest reflect the design language of Scandinavian classics. The special thing about PELLE is its freely hanging seat. It is held by a round strut that runs below the backrest. The roundwood holds the seat made of sleek leather or fabric. The incorporated aluminum insert forms the seat. In design terms, the merging back and arm rest is its stand-out feature.
