House of the year
Lochside House is tranquilly situated by a lake in the Highlands of Scotland. It was honored by RIBA as “House of the Year”. Because of its secluded location, the Lochside House is completely self-sufficient, is powered by the sun and supplied with water pulled up from a bore hole. The RIBA judges were impressed by the extremely successful creation and have awarded the project due to the choice of materials and the integration into the landscape. The sustainable and carefully designed house makes it an exemplar of its genre.
